HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard

HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard

User 1: I give this a four star rating because even though it came with more than I expected, it came short in some minor ways. Here are my observations (First the good)…

It comes with WebOS specific keys. The keys have a good throw and the Keyboard is well-done for its thin style. However, I have a few issues with it (Here they are)…

There should be better directions to the battery door. It might be a problem if you have read the instructions or can access them but what if you can’t for any reason. Though this is definitely a minor issue but it could cause avoidable stress if fixed in subsequent products.

Another issue is how difficult it is to differentiate the “on” from the “off” especially if you are in a place with poor lighting. This is something that would make life easier if it is fixed.

But in spite of everything I have said so far, I consider this to be a very good keyboard.

User 2: This is a very good addition to your Touchpad especially if you want to increase its usefulness. I am happy with my purchase based on my experience with it so far. Here’s a summary of what I think (The good first)…

It has a good feel when you type on it. The battery lasts for long — Up to 6 months. It simply makes it easier for you to type extensively. There’s NO way you can expect to type as fast and as much using the onscreen keyboard of the Touchpad. This simply increases your productivity. It also gives you webOs specific keys.

Now to the negative issues: Some keys don’t work as smoothly as I’d like (Obviously this has to do with webOS and NOT the keyboard itself but it does affect workflow negatively). It’s NOT easy to figure out where the battery case is. But all in all, this is a good way to make your Touchpad more productive.

HP TouchPad Wi-Fi 32 GB 9.7-Inch Tablet Computer — User Reviews

User 1: I have owned an iPad and an Asus Windows Tablet but didn’t get all I wanted from them so I decided to give the HP Touchpad a try. I have used it for a while now and here’s what I can say about it…

I love the HP OS. It makes multitasking very easy out of the box — Your email, Facebook, calender and so on. This is very important for anyone who doesn’t want to go hunting for apps but at the same time have the best of experiences while using it right away.

The Touchpad can’t compete with the best hardware-wise. Compared to what everyone has come to expect, this comes only with a front camera, max memory of 32gb and just one micro usb connection. Anyone who links having options for connectivity, upgrades, more memory and such will NOT be too happy with these limitations.

The screen, though, is good enough and the touch response is fine. It comes with about 5-6 hours of battery life (But you know that this depends on what you are using it for and so on).

Although HP said they won’t be supporting it anymore I still bought another one because this is just a brilliant product. In addition, HP has about 250,000 units of this out there and apps are growing everyday, HP has announced continued support for apps and updates, you get a $50 credit for apps from HP, you get 50gigs of cloud drive at free box.net, the preware homebrew community keeps releasing apps of all sorts for it.

At the moment, the HP Touchpad gives you faster internet and processing following the updates. And considering it’s NO longer as expensive as it used to be, I consider it to be worth giving a try especially if you want a tab that is really easy to use or don’t like either Android or iOS.

User 2: The HP Touchpad is definite a great device that now has the option of making it faster (It was fast enough at 1.2Ghz but you can make it even faster as you’ll see later in this review). Therefore, I give it a five star rating. Believe me, I have used and iPad 2 and have found the Touchpad to be, NOT only a superior tool for productivity, but also great for entertainment. If you are considering buying this, the following will help you have a more positive experience…

Don’t be hasty during set up. Give it time to gather the information it needs to. Also, create a WebOS account — Don’t worry, it isn’t difficult. Make sure you restart the system correctly don’t just hold the power button. Make sure you update. To avoid finger prints, get the case.

For those who want it to perform faster, go ahead and install Homebrew applications. Doing this opens up a whole new world of possibilities to you. Now, take note of this: Apps will open faster at the second or third time.

Apple iPad 2

Apple iPad 2

User 1: I give this tablet a five star rating. That said, I’d like to approach my review from a comparison point of view. I’ll be comparing it with the Xoom so you can make your own decision based on my submission…

*There is a consensus among my family members that the iPad 2 screen has a slicker feel to it than the Xoom screen. It is also more resistant to fingerprints than the Xoom. It also has a wider viewing area and is also brighter.

*The Xoom weighs three ounces more than the iPad2 so you know which to go for if weight is a very important factor for you. However, bear in mind that the Xoom is a little smaller in size than the iPad 2.

*The Xoom is a little faster even though they both use similar processors. The Xoom handles graphics better albeit slightly.

*The iPad2 has better sound. It has a better interface, has many more apps at the moment and also runs those for the iPhone. You get up and running faster. You also have better support.

*The Xoom has an external card slot which the iPad doesn’t have. I also consider the hardware to be superior. This means that you might actually have something far better than the iPad 2 with the releases of updates.

There are a number of other features I didn’t bother to mention in this comparison and that would be because they both score comparably for those. But what’s my final take? I’d go for the iPad 2 always instead of the Xoom. I prefer less hassles with my tablets and that’s what I get with the iPad.

User 2: I have grown from being nonchalant to totally dependent on this device. Here are things that I am very happy about the iPad 2…

It is always ready. It is thin and very comfortable. It’s very portable. You get all the apps you need for a huge variety of tasks and activities. But very importantly, it has a very fast processor so you don’t have to waste valuable time when handling tasks.

I also love the homesharing feature which really helps me save space. The screen responds well both to touch and orientation. The display is great whether it’s text or pictures. The audio is good enough for a device like this. I love the fact that I can use it for up to three days if I use it lightly. The wifi works great and the keyboard is quite easy to use and responds very well too.

But there are things I am NOT happy about with this tab: It is difficult to manage files with it since it has poor file management (If one can call that file management). You can’t print unless you buy additional hardware — “Special” printers. If you want to chat, the video you get with the camera is good enough but if you want to take a still photo, it’s rubbish.

I am also unhappy with how expensive it is if you want to get more space. The 64GB version costs more by as much as $100. Adjusting to touch navigation hasn’t been painless for me since I grew up with keyboards and mice.

How do I rate this device? Well, I have grown so dependent on it that I can’t imagine life without it. So I’d recommend it to you but be aware that you will soon get addicted to it. If that doesn’t bother you, go ahead and buy one.

Acer Iconia Tab W500-BZ467 10.1-Inch Tablet — User Reviews

Acer Iconia Tab W500-BZ467 10.1-Inch

Acer Iconia Tab W500-BZ467 10.1-Inch

User 1: I was expecting something good when I bought this tab but instead I got a great performance. Because of this I give it a five star rating. Here are my observations so far…

*Compared with the Asus T91MT, it has a much brighter and detailed screen. I also observed that it was louder especially if you use earphones. It is massively superior.

*It is obviously well built.

*It can handle anything you throw at it thanks to the APU a special CPU developed by AMD that is both a processor and a graphics card in one. It rocks! To make you appreciate the raw power this tab comes with, it can handle anything my desktop can. This comes with windows 7 and allows you to do pretty much anything you want to do with a computer.

*It works very quietly.

*It has a very responsive screen with or without the screen cover.

*It can handle SDXC cards which is massive because SDXC cards give you storage as huge as 2 terabytes.

*Plays HD movies without glitches

This tab is the best computer I have ever owned. If you are still considering whether you should buy it or NOT, go ahead and just buy it. You can’t go wrong with it. It combines everything I want in a desktop, laptop, netbook, tablet, anything computer — This is simply the best.

User 2: This is certainly a great tablet and would have got my five star rating if NOT for some little issues I think need to be fixed (I’ll get to them later). Here are the positives for this tablet…

*It comes with very responsive touch screen.

*It is great watching HD videos on this tab.

*The APU (Basically a combined CPU and GPU) performs very well.

*It has a great look and feel.

*Comes with windows 7.

*Comes with a keyboard addon which is easy to use.

*Battery life is about 5-6 hours.

*Installing programs is very easy so you don’t have to worry if you are NOT very technology savvy.

Now that I have listed the positives, let’s look at the things I think could be improved (Things I don’t like about it)…

*Limited disk space. At 32gigs, it is quite limited. Add to the fact that this doesn’t even represent available space and you will appreciate that this is a major setback.

*The rear camera isn’t top quality. I think Acer should have done a lot better here.

For a tablet that comes at a price that’s less than what you’d pay for some Honeycomb tablets but gives you the functionality and features this one has, I think this is a very good bargain. Albeit, it would be good if Acer looked into righting the issues I have raised as negatives. This is recommended in spite of the couple of negatives I mentioned.

Acer Iconia Tab A500-10S16u 10.1-Inch

Acer Iconia Tab A500-10S16u 10.1-Inch

User 1: This is a great tablet and, coming from someone who’s owned an iPad 2, you should understand that it means a lot. In fact, I think it’s better than the iPad 2 (Which I have returned) for the following reasons: You have a micro SD card slot which means you can get more memory if you need to unlike the iPad 2. Also, you can’t enjoy the advantage of a USB port with an iPad 2 unless you spend some extra bucks buying an adapter. But with the A500, you really don’t have to bother as it comes with a USB port already. Furthermore, integration with Google applications like Gmail, Youtube and so on is a breeze.

Do you want to project to your HDTV? NO problem, this is because this tablet has a similar aspect ratio to most HDTVS but with the iPad 2, you must get an adapter costing close to $40. Yet another preference I have for the A500 over the iPad 2 is its Android Honeycomb which is a lot better than Apple’s IOS. Truth be said, Apple’s iOS is easier and simpler but it is also quite limited.

If you want a powerful tablet that has long battery life and a great screen, go for the A500.

User 2: I give this a five star rating and I am so happy I now own this tablet even though what I had read prior to buying it were mostly negative reviews — It came as a gift. If you are considering buying it, go ahead. Don’t mind the nonsense reviews that you see around. I am using it at the moment and I can only tell you that it’s a great tablet.

As for my needs, I have more than sufficient. I can surf the web, check my mail, play games with great ease. I love the screen quality and the background motions. The 32 GB is enough for me and I can always “get more” since it has a USB port. The battery lasts for days based on what I use it for. The processing speed is also fine.

I have used this for over two months and I still can’t find a correlation between the negative things I read and my experience. If you need a good tablet, don’t waste your time waiting. Go ahead and get this one — It works fine for me.

User 3: I love my A500. I can tell you it’s better than Xoom or iPad 2. The speakers deliver awesome sound. Even though it is NOT a dedicated GPS, it does that fine too. I love the fact that I don’t have to buy a screen protector since the Gorilla glass it’s made up isn’t the kind of stuff that scratches easily. Add the fact that it has a USB port and you’ll agree with me that it beats the two other tabs I mentioned earlier.

For all that this tab delivers, I must say that it’s definitely a great product and, at the price it’s sold, I call it a great bargain. If you are considering buying a tablet, this one should be high on your list. I am certainly blown away by it’s quality.

ViewSonic gTablet with 10″ Multi-Touch LCD Screen, Android OS 2.2 — Real User Reviews

If you are about to buy the ViewSonic gTablet with 10″ Multi-Touch LCD Screen, Android OS 2.2 then make sure you read the following reviews from users before you do (That is, if you want to ensure that you are getting what’s best for you)…

ViewSonic gTablet

ViewSonic gTablet

User 1: I give this tab a five star rating. But before you judge it, make sure you install the latest update from Viewsonic. This is very important because that’s only when you’ll experience how awesome this product is. I spent some time researching the gTablet before buying and since buying it, I’ve taken some time to explore it and really think it’s better for me than the iPad for the following reasons: It’s a lot cheaper. It has super fast hardware (Tegra2 processor). It comes with a USB port. It has an SD card slot for those who might want additional storage.

Furthermore, I also love the fact that there’s NO need to sync software, there’s access to the file system, you can customize your desktop and custom firmwares are also available (Even though I didn’t have a custom firmware installed since I am more than satisfied with the latest update from Viewsonic).

I must point out again that you’d have a poor experience unless you get the latest update. So this is a must. Currently, though, I flashed my gTablet with a custom firmware (Vegan Gingerbread) just because I wanted to have full access to the full Android market and NOT for poor performance.

There are also a few issues you need to be aware of: The webcam isn’t the best in the market. The touch screen responds fast but gets fingerprints. The viewing angles could be better but I don’t think they are as bad as some folks make it out to be. It plays videos in different formats and does that well. However, it does NOT play VOB.

Unless you flash it like I did, you won’t be able to have full access to the Android market but you do have an alternative: Handango which gives you access to most apps you’ll need.

Apart from these minor issues I really love the G Tablet. It has excellent battery life. I use mine for hours even while multitasking: Browsing the net and listening to Pandora radio. This is a very good product and I do recommend it highly.

User 2: This is a very good iPad. At the time of this writing, I dare say that the G Tablet has superior electronics to the iPad. However, nobody raves about it for some reasons: Its form factor is quite poor. It’s viewing angle is quite poor too. The user interface is horrible. But why do I consider it a good buy?

I consider it a good buy because it comes at a very good price. Another reason is that you can change the horrible interface. All you have to do is flash it with a good firmware like Vegan Gingerbread and you’ll NOT only have Android interface, you’ll also have access to the Android market.

But truth be told, if you are NOT the type to mess around with things (You like your devices ready to use without installing a new ROM or anything), then this isn’t for you. But if you are the type that doesn’t mind flashing your tab to make it work a lot better, then here’s your opportunity to get great value for very little outlay.
